Concussions and Auto Accidents – What to Look For

While physical scars and broken bones are common in severe auto accidents and easy to diagnose and see, it is the non-visible injuries that can be just as debilitating. We wrote about Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) here and the toll it can take on an individual involved in an auto accident or other emotional situation. One cannot see PTSD, but it exits through symptoms that are discussed and diagnosed by your physician. Like PTSD, concussions are a very serious non-visible injury that should be treated seriously.

SPEAK TO A LAWYER TODAY

Concussions and other traumatic brain injuries can be just as debilitating as a physical injury, and symptoms can sometimes linger for years. If you have been involved in an auto accident or suffered a workplace injury and believe you may have suffered a concussion you should immediately seek medical assistance. Some of the signs to look for are:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Memory loss
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Nausea
  • Sleep problems
  • Personality changes

Suffering a concussion can cause family, work, school, and relationship problems. It should not be treated lightly, as the brain damage sustained from a concussion can take months to heal. As with visible injuries, you can be compensated for injuries related to PTSD and concussions.

If you have sustained a concussion due to the negligence of another, you should contact an attorney to discuss your rights and options.
