Type 2 Diabetes Drug Leads to Possible Dangers

If you or a loved one is suffering with Type 2 Diabetes, you have probably discussed the possible benefits of the drug Invokana. This drug is a prescription medication that can lower blood sugar in patients with Type 2 Diabetes.

Unfortunately, as with other prescription drugs, certain issues and dangerous complications related to Invokana have surfaced. Possible complications include the following:

  • Limb amputation
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Kidney infections
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (diagnosis for one whose body is producing high levels of ketones, which can cause a patient to suffer a diabetic coma)

A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 2015 statement to consumers warned of an Invokana danger: possible attribution to an increased risk for foot, leg and toe amputations. The FDA is continuing to evaluate and investigate Invokana and other SGLT2 inhibitors (medications used to lower blood gluclose levels).

If you or a loved suffering with Type 2 Diabetes is currently taking Invokana or have taken it in the past, you should immediately discuss your prescription with your physician. If you have suffered amputations or other serious health related complications while taking medications like Invokana, you should contact The Chiozza Law Firm – Your901Law – for a free case evaluation.
